Assessment and intervention for young adults up to age 25 years, children, parents and families experiencing difficulties with any aspect of their psychological well -being including depression, psychosis, anxiety, self-harm, eating difficulties, PTSD, social or relationship problems and addiction. Please note I do not do autism and ADHD assessments as these need a multi-disciplinary team.
Assessment will usually involve an initial meeting to discuss your concerns and gather information about you, your circumstances, your difficulties and past experiences. If you’re concerned about your child or young person, I will meet with you together and separately. I will also talk to school or college if you are happy for me to do so. Following this I will share my initial thoughts with you and we can agree an initial treatment plan or further assessments, which might include attachment interviews. Usually an assessment would take between 1.5 to 2 hours. Attachment interviews also take about an hour, and then need to be typed and coded. I use and have training in a range of therapeutic interventions. The attachment-based formulation will guide which interventions and treatments are likely to be most beneficial for you at this time.
An initial assessment is £300 which includes the 1st appointment which is between 1.5 and 2 hrs duration, liaison with school or other professionals if appropriate and an assessment letter to GP and other professionals.
Follow up appointments are £120 and typically are between 30 and 50 minutes and include updating your GP if indicated.
For regular therapy clients I am happy to negotiate according to individual circumstances.
Additional letters, reports and phone calls are charged at my hourly rate (£120/hr) per 15 minutes time taken.
Private prescriptions are charged at £10.
In the last 12 years I have undertaken assessments of children involved in care proceedings, private law and the criminal justice system in the UK. This can include mental health and risk assessment, overall needs assessment and specific assessments such as placement and contact needs or fitness to plead. I have undertaken extensive training in the Dynamic Maturational Model (DMM) of Attachment and use the DMM attachment interviews and methodology to provide specialised assessments of attachment to assist the courts.

If other therapists or counsellors are struggling with a client, feeling stuck or just want to consider a different perspective I can offer one off consultation or regular supervision. Thinking about your clients from an attachment perspective can provide new insights into a problem, helping you and your clients resolve blocks to progress.
Prices negotiable.
Attachment theory and practice is relevant to mental health professionals, social care, support workers, schools and businesses. I can offer bespoke training packages to meet the needs of your organisation or group. Please contact me if you would like to know more.
